Many artists are shying away from social media because of the technophobia surrounding it. However, you’re really missing out. There are people looking for you! The technology may feel scary, overwhelming, or just another thing to add to your to-do list. Do not want.
But hold on!
The internet is used by millions – around the world. Feeling lonely or disconnected in your neighborhood? Not that many artists to meet up with? Head to twitter. Search #hashtags with words like
Having a website or even a Facebook page with some of the art you make is a wonderful way to connect with others. Linking back to your portfolio, film, project, offerings from your social media is a must. People want to know how you can help them or bring more beauty into their life. This is what artists do.
By connecting on social media you support other artists and make new friends. Since I started blogging I have connected with likeminded individuals and support them as much as I can by sharing their offerings or collaborating with them. That’s how you grow your business and yourself. Surrounding yourself with driven and creative people makes such a big difference.
Managing Media One Bite at a Time
So you’re ready to jump into Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Tumblr, or the next new thing! Fantastic. However, do not do what I did.
DIVE IN HEADFIRST INTO ALL THE THINGS.
You’ll feel overwhelmed, miss dates, and have to figure out everything while making the others suffer. You want to get the most out of using the tools without spending countless of hours not getting results.
Start with what you use the most.
Use Facebook a lot? Make a Facebook Page.
Tweeting non-stop? Set up a Twitter focusing on your business/art.
So on and so forth.
Now – head over to Hootsuite. Put all your accounts on there and start scheduling your most amazing posts, projects, and interests. Inundate with hashtags for those people searching for likeminded individuals. You will have everything in one place and not have to check a bajillion times.
Stress = Poof!
Hootsuite has been a life saver for me – especially since bloggers typically have school, work, or families that they have to balance. You can’t be with your nose on your smartphone or computer all the time!
